Trying NetGalley Again…

I signed up for NetGalley a while ago (which means, more than six months and less than five years). They’ve sent me dutiful reminders and it’s chugged along nicely in the background of my email awareness.  When I first joined there weren’t a lot of publishers and I had lots of other things to think and blog about. I still do…but when I heard publishers mention it again at KidLitCon and when I started seeing much larger publishing houses sign on board, I grew more interested again. So I’m back, have waded through a few current offerings, and

NetGalley is just what it’s name says, galleys of books, made available before the books are published in an electronic format. Reviews are the general trade but one can choose what one is interested in–as opposed to having something random show up.  I was declined by a couple of publishers who have “designated approved lists” that they use.  I imagine my occasional reviews may not be enough for them.  But there are others, smaller publishers and such who seem interested in having a soon-to-be-medlib read along and comment.

So I’m hopping back on the review thing…

I have used NetGalley once or twice, and I love the idea behind it and the fact that it exists, but I don’t have an ereader and I just can’t sit down and read a novel on my computer. I am hoping to get an ereader for Christmas, and then I will definitely use NetGalley all the time!

Yeah–that’s my one concern. I can probably get through a short book but a long one? We’ll see how it goes…
